Product Description
MINIMALIST RUNNING / BAREFOOT RUNNING The Saucony Peregrine is the latest addition to Saucony's minimalist range. The Peregrine is a light weight trail shoe based on a similar concept to the Saucony Kinvara. This is a brand new neutral running shoe from Saucony. A very low, lightweight offering, but still feeling very cushioned. Even though this is a very lightweight trainer, it is still very stable which is unusual in such a low profile Trail shoe. Heel ProGrid LITE - Saucony's lighest version of ProGrid that absorbs impact, dissipates shock and sets the foot up for a smooth transition EVA+ - An advanced EVA blend that maximizes rebound and durability while minimizing weight Moulded EVA Sockliner - Antimicrobial and breathable while providing superior cushioning and ride Airmesh Upper - for lightweight breathability for your foot, keeing it cool and free from sweat. XT-900 carbon rubber outsole material offers exceptional traction without sacrificing durability# XT-900 carbon rubber outsole material offers exceptional traction without sacrificing durability Memory Foam Heel Pods - to hold your foot in place and mould to the shape of YOUR foot. This shoe has had it's multi-directional tread deepened from the first draft of the design and we're sure it's going to become a favourite. Please note that due to the design of these shoes, it is highly recommened that you train in these shoes, whilst running in your current shoes. It is not advisable to start running in these shoes from the very start - training of the foot and leg muscles is needed to be done to help reduce injuries. What Saucony say about minimalist running and the shoes... Going minimal all at once is risky because minimal shoes ask more of different muscles in your feet and calves. Instead, we recommend using a minimal shoe for one or two of your runs each week. This will strengthen those less developed muscles and help you realise a new and better overall level of fitness. By Backpacker
It's (very) light, yet cushioned.Feels soft to the feet, yet tough.Holds great balance - and GRIP - on uneven dirt trail, or even road. This might be the most perfect shoe I've ever worn. And no one could be more surprised than me. I was expecting a Kinvara feel ... light/flat/minimalist, not enough of a heel height for a heel striker like me. But the Peregrine has a feel all its own - perfectly even keel, decent heel drop, and literally raring to go.Tested it on a 4 mile uphill arduous trail here in southern California. Stable on the ground, you can feel the trail unevenness/undulations while staying comfortable - makes you appreciate the intelligence of the design. The shoe works different muscles in the legs - the lower flexors above the ankles in particular (in my opinion/experience) - so I felt the strain. Good, that means I need to develop those. Can your ankles twist? This is a perennial question from runners. Yes, they can, even in these shoes, but the reflex recovery is rapid as the shoes are low to the ground, so you won't likely suffer a sprained ankle. For a neutral runner - rather one who underpronates/supinates slightly - this shoe has been a gift. I've been through a lot of shoes from different manufacturers, and have found Saucony the best for me. The shape of their last suits my average-to-slight foot build. I ran in the Progrid Guide for the last year - the wrong shoe for my pronation - yet an excellent shoe. This year I discovered the Triumph 8 Saucony Men's ProGrid Triumph 8 Running Shoe to be more perfect for me for the road. And now the Peregrine for dirt, grass, uphill trails. Good job Saucony ... again, I'm surprised.Warning/Caution: The shoe comes a 1/2 size big, so order at least a 1/2 size down.I really like the lugs on the sole - great grip/traction on rocky/dirt/uneven/ terrain.

By BouncingSoles
For the first few weeks I had the shoe they worked out fine. I took them on a rainy trail run and I couldn't stop the insole from bunching up in the toe box. I had to stop, remove the shoes, and throw out the insole. I now only wear the shoe when I know the weather is going to be nice, or I won't be crossing any streams on my runs. During a trail race I saw a guy wearing a pair of these and he said the same thing. I saw him on the course multiple times stopping to fix the insoles. I did try using an insole from another shoe, I just haven't risked getting them wet again. Other then that I do like the tread pattern and amount of traction they provide.

By agabrielj
I've ran 190 trail miles so far and these shoes are barely showing signs of fray near my pinky toes. I originally cut several lugs (superfluous) from the bottom to shed a little weight, but more importantly to shed mud easier. The shoes still grip extremely well. The peregrines are light weight, 4mm drop shoes. A perfect fit for me, plus they look great.
