Cool not too comfortable

After wearing 574 for a few years I decided to try the another retro show the 420. While the show is nice looking and flexible. There is very little padding compared to the 574s I have had. I will wear the shoes till they wear out but will go back to 574s for my next shoe.

First of all I suggest 1/2 number less... if you compare it with adidas sneakers. The shoes are great, made with good materials, good design and very comfortable. I ordered these sneakers on black, but came gray on logo and the rear part, but there's no regret about it, looks so good. Definitely I recommend this item.

color confusion

these are a great classic shoe. not a ton of support but thats what i expected.when i opened the box i thought amazon had sent me the wrong color. i was expecting something more grey/khaki but got something that was more like army green. i guess i read khaki green in the description and overlooked the green part, ha. nevertheless i am enjoying these shoes. styyyyyyyyyyyylish.

Saucony lover disappointed...

I am a long time fan and supporter of Saucony. As a neutral runner with very slight under probation tendencies I am fortunate that I can wear almost any shoe and I have tried many of the Saucony lines: Guide series, Ride series (favorite), Jazz series (2nd favorite), Triumph series, Echelon series and the Xodus Trail Running series. All fantastic and exceptional value.That being said there are occasions (like ALL major Co.'s) where quality control is an issue. If you ever come across a review where someone complains about stitching, weak/poor glue etc. I hope you will use logic and common sense and remember that the majority of our country's favorite products are made overseas and the factory workers could really care less about us (the consumer). True- inspections and standards can increase, but then so does the manufacturing/labor costs and that ultimately means our purchase price as well.Here on Amazon we are lucky to get incredible deals on older items, so I hope that everyone will keep these things in mind before going off half-cocked and complaining about single-instance issues.I gave the Guide 4 TR (trail) shoe 3 stars only because it seems to be lost/confused in terms of what kind of shoe it should be. Since it is a heavier shoe (as most trail shoes are) I am not complaining about the weight, or anything trivial. The upper is nicely constructed and quite attractive. For some reason only the heel is reinforced for durability so other than having closed mesh and slight water resistance, this shoe looks as though it was designed for light trail running. However- you can perform light trail running with every good running shoe already. The sole has a good pattern, but not aggressive enough for heavy trails. No rock plates either, but still stiff nevertheless, but then it's curious that the shoe is so shallow inside with no room for thick socks, or any orthotic thicker than the stock one, which makes the feel very uncomfortable even after a break-in period. The ankles sit high and there is slight heel slippage at a modest pace and a lot of slippage on steep inclines. Since the sole is soft rubber, it wears very quickly on pavement unless you gave smooth concrete streets and sidewalks where you live.Therefore it's not a road shoe, nor a trail shoe, and as a hybrid it's somewhat of a failure. It does look nice, but that's about it. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's an older model anyway.

Good shoe but

The shoes have great traction and the design seems to fit the foot well, but I had a major issue with my shoes as I ran they keep getting looser and looser. By the end of my run the shoes were cinched so tight that there was no more room left for adjustment. Amazon took the shoes back and I may give these guys another try once I feel all the kinks have been worked out.

Happy Feet!!!

These shoes are the best!! Perfectly form fitting to your foot. Can feel a little off at first, but mold to your foot perfectly after a little breaking in. Super Light, and breathable. Perfect for the trail in summer. I really think they hit the proverbial "Nail on the Head" with these shoes. Good Job Treksta, I will be coming back for more!!!

Boss!

2012 has been the year of the off-road and trail run/obstacle race for me. I have run about 20 this year but it wasn't until recently that I realized that runners in the 'elite' heats of these races were all wearing Inov-8s, and now I see why.I had been running in vibram 5 fingers for the past 5 years or so - people called me the Vibram hipster - but after running in these bad boys I'll save the vibrams for the mud runs and these puppies for the trail and obstacle runs.Wary of anything bright and flashy or worn by cross fitters (ha, just joking) I had my reservations and took these guys out on a 12 mile trail run right off the bat. These shoes fit snugly and ate up the terrain without any problem - I didn't expect to run more than a few miles in them but the comfort kept me going. These shoes are light weight, gripped the mixed trail (gravel, dirt, roots, wooden beams) and the road equally well.I was worried when one of our group runners twisted an ankle and we had to take a road back the last 2 miles. I know some trail shoes or cleats will wreck your feet if you run on pavement - these shoes, and my feet, held up just fine.I plan on getting a heck of a lot of use out of these, so much in fact, that I purchased a second pair just in case I decide to fully replace my vibrams in the dirt and grime.Inov-8 definitely got it right with these.Happy Trails!

Trailroc 245

I compare the 245 to my previous shoe of choice and one it resembles closely. The MT110 from New Balance. I have a normal arch and am a neutral runner.My 245s arrived yesterday and I took them on a 14 mile training run over mostly hard packed, rocky terrain, here are my early impressions. I am impressed with the traction, comfort, and locked in fit. I already prefer them over the MT110s. The trailrocs fit my low volume feet perfectly, just like the Minimus last but a tad bit more room in the toe box. I purchased the same size I wear in Minimus Trail and the fit was spot on.Traction was nice all around - from the hardpack, loose gravel, mud, and soft pine needled track I have no complaints. The upper was 'breezy' and after a small stream crossing they drained and dried pretty well. I do like the mesh upper more than the also nice synthetic 110 upper. I did not have any debris catch or snag the mesh on my run. Also, I did not notice any debris getting through the thin mesh yet or any hotspots. I absolutely love the outsole on this shoe! I just hope it's durable enough to justify the high price tag. I believe it will put the 110 to shame in this category.In regard to weight, I didn't really notice a difference between these and the 110s. The lower 1mm drop of the trailrocs was not noticeable to me either. I did notice a difference with lack of soreness after my usual run which I attribute to the additional cushioning of the trailroc. Or maybe it's just because the EVA foam of the 110 was crushed after the first 30 miles on mine.Complaints - the laces. I guess NB has just spoiled me. Those thick laces just don't come untied. I had to double knot the inov-8 ones. Toe bumper is pretty much not there, it could be beefier. I also wish the tongue was gusseted higher up, it doesn't want to stay put. Removable insole - I'm not a fan, but a great feature for those that wear orthotics...but if you've got orthotics why do you believe in low drop anyway...?Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase. The fit really is spot on, and that was one of my biggest concerns. Now if the durability is there this could be my all around go to trail running shoe. I'm excited to take them out on my long run Saturday.

Best trail shoes I have ever owned

Love the minimal feel, though you will feel a lot. These are too aggressive a tread to really transfer between trail and pavement. On the trails, where they are intended tho, their performance is unmatched. They have a little more sole than I have become accustomed to, but the transition was easy, comfortable and the toe drop is still minimal. If you are used to regular running shoes, and are yet unfamiliar with minimal running shoe, you will DEFINITELY WANT TO EASE into these.
