I run a lot of trails all year, through every weather condition. I needed a good shoe for the wet, cold, muddy winter season. Researched many different trail shoes and ordered a couple different kinds, not knowing which one I would like best. Settled on these Salomon S-Lab Fellcross shoes and LOVE them.Fit: They run about 1/2 size big, so I adjust according to your fit. Normally I like the way a 10.5 (US) feels, but these fit best at a size 10. Love the lacing system on the Salomon shoes...one quick pull and the lace are snug.Performance: Took them out on a very technical, hilly, wet, slippery deep mud trail yesterday in 35 degree temps. The gripped the ground perfectly and hardly slipped except in the deepest mud where nothing would help. They have pretty aggressive lugs on the bottom and feel a little odd on the asphalt parking lot, but on the trails they are awesome...my new favorite wet trail shoe.Most of the shoe is rather water proof around the sole. When my foot did completely submerge in deep water/mud, water did get in the shoe...which was expected since they are not waterproof, which is also nice so they breathe. I washed them thoroughly today and the mud came right off and they are drying now.These shoes are very lightweight (~10.5 ounces)and have a low heel/toe ratio (~6mm) much like a minimalist shoe and a very thin sole except for the lugs. I ran over lots of rocks but did not feel bruised afterwards as the sole still had good protection. I prefer to run in shoes with low heels and that are lightweight...these fit the bill.

I only run when chased. That is in part because I am permanently disabled by Chronic Vertigo caused by the removal of my balance mechanism to reach and remove a brain tumor. It sucks, but it beats being dead.I discovered these shoes quite by accident. I cannot say enough about how amazingly they enhance stability and balance. I use a cane to walk nearly all of the time. When I wear running shoes I can sometimes get away without a cane as long as I am in familiar surroundings... such as my living room or kitchen. Most of the time I must use a cane because I just never know when some imaginary movement is going to throw me off balance and send me crashing to the floor.These shoes arrived today. I put them on and immediately recognized the change in stability, even compared to my Adidas and Nike running shoes.I decided to test them out by taking my little dog for a walk. Much to my surprise, I did not have to use my cane to stabilize in the walking down the hall of my building, in the elevator, or even when outside walking my dog on sidewalks or in the grass. I did use my cane to help with sitting down and getting up from the bench we stopped to sit on.The materials in use in this shoe are far from typical. These are high tech shoes and I cannot begin to describe how stable they are.If you need or could benefit from some added stability definitely give these unexpected jewels a try. If they work for you, it will be immediately apparent. If they don't, they are still freakin' cool looking... like little Ferrari's for your feet.
