I recently bought a pair of these shoes after reviewing other brands and models.I am very satisfied with the grip of the sole. The shoes are well built, has good presence and work great for walking on uneven terrain, mountains and places where it takes an extra grip to the surface.Although you can walk with them, jogging is not recommended because they are not very flexible and the internal damping is rather hard. Definitely they have not been designed for jogging.My personal assessment is excellent for these shoes. Highly recommended for the purposes I mentioned.I hope they will be durable too.

I just broke in a new pair of these in the Independence Lake area in California.The good: unlike the newer model, these come in a color which is suitable for daily & casual wear. The GTX makes stream crossings a little nicer. The traction is very good; the shoes didn't slip at all on very steep smooth granite. The quality so far is holding up to Vasque's usual standards.The bad: heavy and stiff.These really don't feel like trail running shoes to me. My old pair of casual Merrell Meridian Sports were better trail runners than these. There's almost no torsional flexibility, I can barely move my toes inside the shoes, there's almost no heel cushioning, and the shoes feel a lot heavier than they look. It's only a small exaggeration to say I feel like I'm wearing wooden blocks with really good outsoles; I developed hot spots on my feet after just a few hours of light hiking and jogging on mixed terrain. I think these will be a great pair of rough terrain hiking shoes for weekend backpacking trips, but I'm still looking for a good pair of trail runners.These shoes are also a tight fit. I should have ordered a half size larger than every other pair of shoes I currently own.

This was the first pair of Vasque's that I had that did not fit well. The front of the shoe is made with rubber that extends to the beginning of the shoe laces. While the rubber is there to protect your toes, it takes away from the shoes ability to stretch leaving a very tight fit.
