Made of waterproof fabric with EZ-CleanTM finish and a TPU overlay for style and stability, this lightweight men's athletic shoe bridges the gap between a traditional running shoe and barefoot minimalist shoe, easily transitioning through multiple adventures. The low-profile Merrell FloatTM midsole offers a 4mm drop to keep you in touch with the terrain, while the 2mm contoured EVA insole supports the foot for comfort and shock absorption. A padded bellows tongue and padded collar guard against chafing and keep out debris. The Merrell Mix Master Mid Waterproof minimalist multi-sport shoe is finished with a sticky rubber outsole that has 3.5mm lugs to adapt to changing surfaces on the fly.

As advertised, this shoe is as close to minimalist as you can get and still be comfortable on rough,slippery, "rooty" and bony terrain. Grips well, good support on inclines up and down, and the high-back keeps tons of trail debris out of your shoes. Very waterproof but not overly hot even in fairly warm weather. My only criticism would be that the sole provides just a little too much feedback on trails that have a lot 1-2 inch stones. That criticism said, I would buy another pair in a second, though I'd like to see the price come down some! Really nice over-all shoe for dyed-in-the-wool trail dogs!

This is an excellent shoe, water proof, with lots of stability and light. I would highly recommend to anyone running on trails or in adverse conditions.

These are almost the perfect hiking boot for me. I'm so sick of getting blistered up in big leather "pain machines". Just did a 3 day backpacking trip with nary a hot spot. The problem is Merrell's proprietary waterproof-breathable membrane is for sure waterproof but lacking on the breathable part. These boots get pretty clammy. If they made these with eVent or Gore-Tex they might be the perfect hiking boot. As they are, they are still pretty sweet and I think this barefoot running shoe kind of hiking boot will be the future. Really, do we need clomp stomping big ol' leather pain machines to know that we're in the woods? Nay. Overall, well done Merrell. Just let someone else do the membrane.
