I wear my NB trail runners for lightweight, long distance backpacking trips. I have previously worn 811's and 1410's - two great long lasting shoes. The 813's (like most NB trail runners) fit perfectly right out of the box, with zero break-in time required. They are light and fairly breathable as well. I always replace the insoles with green superfeet insoles, which make them rigid enough to rock-hop above treeline all day long without the shoe "folding" over when stepping on pointy rocks and roots.My only complaint is the triangular silver "arrow" on the side of the outer toe box. The tip of the triangle constantly rubs on rocks etc and both pairs quickly developed tears in the mesh on both sides of the triangle. After less than 100 miles both pair were damaged significantly.If you're looking for a very light NB shoe, try the MT101

Overall a pretty tough shoe. Very light for a trail runner. I purchased it to wear and use when doing PT on my base in Afghanistan. It has held up well thus far. I do agree with other reviewers that it is sized about 1/2 size larger than other New Balance shoes.

I've been a fan of New Balance for years since I found that it was the only brand that fit my foot well. I was a little hesitant to order online (have always tried on shoes before buying them), but took a chance since I already knew my New Balance size. It worked out well and I'm happy with my purchase!
